During the New Year I made a resolution to start eating healthier and getting away from junk food but I did not follow through with it. I really do want to start eating more healthy though and start eating on time rather than just snacking on small things when I'm hungry. I also wanted to start eating more veggies than meat. I know I wouldn't be able to completely be a vegan or vegetarian, but I would like to slowly start going away from it. I already really like my drinking habits since I only drink water, although I think I should cut down on drinking so much coffee, although I know it will be hard at first. As for weight, I'm fine with where I am at the moment and don't really wish to change anything. Realistically, I don't know I will be able to achieve these goals since I've tried before and failed, but I will try with little things for example, drinking green tea when I have the urge for coffee since it's healthier. I don't have any limitations in eating healthy except for laziness to actually cut a fruit open or just eat healthier. Overall, I wish to be healthier but don't know if I will be able to achieve this goal, even if I tried I know I will eventually go back to my regular eating habits.
In the beginning of this course I wanted to be successful and have a strong sense of what I wanted to accomplish in the future. I also wanted to learn a lot about what my options were for when I got older and how I would approach them. As for being a student, I just wanted to do well and learn as much as I could about life in general. I feel like I showed success in many different areas such as being more independent and learning how to speak to peers and to present without feeling nervous. I also felt successful by learning just by listening to presentations and hearing about different jobs as well as some things that can actually help me in life such as learning about drugs or jobs like being a pilot instructor. All of these are my growths in this class, they were also all the areas I wanted to develop in so all in all, it was my success too. Some skills I developed as a student in this class is presenting, being more independent when meeting and talking to others such as the YPI project forced me to get out of my comfort zone and interview someone. I also feel like my skills in writing a resume and cover letter improved and I was able to write one that looked and sounded much better.
Overall, these six pieces/activities were ones that stood out to me the most and what I thought were either the most important and helped me or completely the opposite.
Process: One assignment that took a while to do but resulted in me being successful was the resumes and cover letters we wrote. Although I had already had a resume and cover letter from before, checking it with peers really helped me improve on them and add a lot more or take out things that were useless and this resulted in a better resume and cover letter.
Improvement: One assignment I think I improved a lot more on was basically commenting on other peoples assignments to help them or ask them questions. This started happening a lot more on our drug and aids projects when I had a lot more free time after and would comment on other peoples projects with Danilyn and Jessica. In the beginning of the semester I would not really comment on others pages, and when I did it was not something that I could learn from or help my peer but something more like: "Good job!" If I could do this again, I would start commenting a lot in the beginning of the year and learned earlier rather than later in the year.
Risk Taking:One assignment that I thought was a risk taker was doing our personal pages in the beginning of the year. I thought this was risky because I did not know everyone well at the beginning of the year and I did not want to put something on my personal page that someone would maybe look twice at. I also thought someone would judge me based on what I put on my collage. Although we did not really go back to the personal pages, i think it really helped me in knowing who I was and what I like. It also taught me what kind of person I am and what I can do to make myself happier in the future.
Favourite: My favourite piece was when we had to do the YPI project. Although my group and I did not win, I feel like I did win in some sort of way because of how much I learned and had fun doing. I thought it was a great way to involve students to the actual community instead of just learning on paper. This project taught me about kids in general, the way communities work, how independent I actually am and what I can do to make a difference. Something I would like other people to notice about this project is how helpful it really is for not only students but the actual organization itself. If I had to do this project again, I would like to be a lot more prepared for it.
Something of Personal Significance: Over the semester, I found that a lot of the presentations were personally significant to me in a way. I feel like it was significant to me because a lot of the people that came in were people that I meet or see outside of school and when I saw them teaching me more about their job, it seemed like their life was more interesting and something that I could look more closely at and reflect more upon. I also feel like it was significant because it really opened up my mind and gave me more job opportunities to look at. Something I would like people to notice about these presentations is that students actually really benefit from it and learn more about life from others experience rather than just being taught something. If I were to listen to all the presentations again, I would most likely ask more questions and get more information.
Burn It: One assignment I would burn during this year would be all the quizzes we did at the beginning of the year. I personally thought it was useless and did not help me at all but rather just wasted my time. I already knew what I wanted to do and all the quizzes were just giving me completely different results.
Overall, I feel like I deserve a G because of how much I learned ion this class and what I have done to understand more about how these assignments and projects can help me. I also realized how they have already helped me! For example, from a lot of the presentations I have learned so much about every day life. All in all, I feel like I deserve between a 88 and 90%.
In the beginning of this class I had one major goal which was to try and figure out what I wanted to do with life and where I wanted to be after high school. I also had little goals such as, doing my best, learning, and working hard on projects so that it could help me in the future. As a student, I just wanted to do well. As of now, not all my goals have been accomplished. I think it will though since we have not done a lot so far. In the near future though, I hope to do really well on our YPI project. I feel as if I deserve a G in this class because I get things done on time and when I'm supposed to. I feel like in this component I deserve an 86-88%. I also work hard on any assignments given instead of just slacking off and not giving it my best ability. I also deserve a G because I'm always ready for class, and have not yet missed a day where I needed to catch up. For example, in my University Dean project located on my blog, I think I had a good amount of information and actually learned and taught myself a lot of things I did not know about the University of British Columbia. For example, I learned how much it would cost and what the benefits were of living on campus rather than at home. I also learned how it's so diverse and even though you could be at UBC for one thing, you can also have many different opportunities.
Aside from projects, I feel like I also deserve a 86-88% in this component. I also learned a lot about myself and what I like to do through the many quizzes and tests we had done. This proves how much knowledge I'm getting about what I really want to do which ties in with me achieving my goal. I also think I'm great with helping my peers around me although I do think I lack helping other people that don't happen to be near me. I know I should put more effort into commenting and helping my peers out but never seem to do so, which I do want to change. I feel like because of this, I deserve a 76-80%. I also feel like I should take into consideration about what people comment on my blogs but I feel like when people comment, it's mostly just stars and no wishes which does not help me improve in this class, although I'm hoping to work well on my YPI project and get a lot of feedback.
Overall, I think this class is great and really does help me understand more things about jobs, schools and life in general. All in all, I feel like I deserve an 86-88% (A) in all the components.
Part 1: I feel as if I would be a great person to be employed. Communication wise, I love speaking and I think this would help me a lot considering I'm also good at it. I can speak infront of a crowd or even one person and still act mature and have my point be said. I also feel that the use of my words are more formal than informal. I do feel that I lack in my body language though and I wish to improve this. Problem solving wise, I feel like it depends on what the problem is. For example, if I was asked to fix up a machine, I would not be able to do it considering that this is not my strongest skills. However, if I was asked to correct a design of some sort, I think I would do an exceptionally good job on it because that is just something I enjoy doing and comes naturally. For team work I feel like this could be my strongest skill and also my weakest. I feel this way because it depends a lot on who I'm working with. For example, I would not be able to work with someone who does not care about the problem or feels that they have no involvement. Although, I do feel that if my peers are working just as much as me, that things will run smoothly. This also does annoy me though, considering that a like things in a specific way. Overall, I've been known to be a great leader and this goes hand-in-hand with team work. For personal responsibility, I am great. I know that I'm organized and like to work on things to the best of my ability. Although I do feel that it takes a while for me to get start or get involved with a job because I get lazy and start procrastinating, but I always get the job done with amazing results. Overall, I think I would be a great employee.
Part 2: After taking the quiz, my results were not very different from what I had said in part 1 of this blog. Many of my skills were brought up and repeated. It did have minor changes though, such as me being a great leader an working really well in groups and also how I use my resources productivley.
Overall, I think I would be a great employee because of all the skills I posses and the experiences I've had.

Welcome to the University of British Columbia. Being a well known University, we have many different campuses. Our Vancouver campus the most popular and also our largest campus. It was founded by Henry Marshall Tory in 1915.
UBC is mostly known for its Science programs but also offers many other programs. We offer more than 220 programs just for an undergraduate degree! No matter what, you'll find the program you're looking for due to the vast amount of programs.
UBC is not only academic, but we also offer scholarships for arts and athletics. Getting into a university like this is tough and is costly, but we assure you that it is worth the time and effort! UBC more than a campus, it is a community offering gyms, museums and a selection of restaurants. Even if you do enjoy sports but aren't there to succeed in them, we offer opportunities to join different sport teams, and clubs.
Considering UBC is like a small town, we have various housing options. If you're looking for something nice and spacious, UBC has apartments and condos, but if you're looking for a cheaper and closer residence to the school we offer dorms. Choosing to live in the UBC area offers you the chance to meet new people and experience independence.
UBC offers summer programs (May-August) and winter programs (September-April). The easiest way to apply is online. To apply to a summer program, deadlines are due January 15th and winter program deadlines are due on February 3rd. To be accepted into this prestigious school, you need to have at least a 70% average (or higher for many programs) & at least a 70% in grade 11 & 12 English. You will also need a completion of the specific courses required, depending on the program you want to get into. The costs vary from $4000-$16000, depending on the program you're applying for (textbooks & living costs are additional).

During these five weeks in planning I think I've done great. I feel like I put effort into my work and manage my own behaviour when something needs to be done. I also have never been late or absent and I think my attendance is great. Apart from being in time, I'm also ready with whatever I need and ready to work and hand in all assignments in on time. I feel as though I've been a great student but I also have many areas where I need to improve on such as helping my peers. Although I do help answer any questions I feel as though I can do much more by commenting and helping others once I'm finished my work. Overall, I feel like I am trying my best and working hard to finish and understand work given but I also feel that I need to involve myself more with the class by helping others or asking for help. Work wise I understand any communication given and can use that information to help myself. So far I like Planning 10 and hope to learn a lot more over the semester!
My short term goals are just to try and do well in all my courses and preferebly work towards my career such as getting volunteer jobs towards the job I want. My long term goals are to get into a a good University that offers the program that I want. At this point, I'm not sure where I want to go but I do know that I would want to go somewhere that actually teaches me things I need to know. I also want to get a job that helps me get closer to my career. I know I wont be able to get a career right away after school so I would atleast try to have a stable job that allows me to pay for living and studies. The education I need to achieve my goals come from both highschool and post secondary. I need to know how draft and use the computer effectively. I will also need math and physics. Other than that, it would be really useful to take a class that is more creative so that I can have a more broad education. As of now I'm not sure what school I want to go to and I don't mind whether it is out of the country or not as I am able to adapt. Like I've said before, it doesn't bother me what school I go to as long as they can provide a good program. In grade 11 and 12, I'm planning on taking Pre-Calculus and Drafting and Design as this will help me a lot. I'm also considering taking an arts class and a science. To help me even more, I've decided to take a trades program for Drafting. For volunteer options, there is not much for me wanting to be an Interior Decorator, although I will try working and volunteering anywhere I can, preferebly in an office so that I can understand how it feels to be at a desk and organize things. To achieve my goals I will need to save up a lot of money for University, get a job or volunteer and study hard! Some potential challenges I may face in achieving my goals, are not doing well in studies, not getting into the University I want or having trouble finding a job but I'll never stop trying to achieve my goal in the end. Too meet these challenges, I'd try working even harder at school, my job or whatever else I will need to continue achieving my goal. As of now, I know that I want to start post-secondary right after high school because I don't want to wait to long and miss out on opportunites. Depending on how long post-secondary is I might go for farther studies and hopefully get a great job that I can turn into my career someday. Over the next few years I will monitor my success by paying attention to my studies and actually being more mature about what I want to do and hopefully this will help me plan out my future!
After doing the learning styles quiz, I feel that it was quite accurate considering I like learning when I see something practical happening right in front of me other than just reading some notes. Nothing really surprised me because I was kind of expecting these kind of results.

After doing the work values quiz, I feel that it was 70% accurate. I do find myself really sociable and directive but the jobs is where it throws it off. I don't see myself being an instructor let alone being a driving instructor. I also don't see myself becoming anything close to a nurse or doctor considering science is one of my weakest subjects. I was surprised when 'Objective' was the lowest because I do find myself quite objective. I think the fact that it said I was sociable and directive was spot on. These results do steer me towards the "instructor" jobs, but I don't think that it is the best direction for me, because I'd rather do something where I worked alone.
After doing the careers quiz, I think it was spot on! I know I wouldn't do a job that includes machinery and such but rather something that involves me being in a social and creative setting. It definitely surprised me that it was quite my personality but I don't think I would do any of the jobs that were listed, since I've already found something that interests me. My results do steer me in a more arts field and I think this accurate. I know I wouldn't do anything involving sciences or math and this quiz definitely confirmed it!

I feel like the Holland's Personality Test was very accurate considering that all the results were what I see in myself and all the jobs were something that I would actually consider doing. What surprised me was that some of the jobs that were offered were to my liking and things I would see myself enjoying. Some insights that were 'bang on' were the fact that I'm sociable and like interacting with others. it also said that I am very artistic and not much of a handy person which I thought were also spot on.
After high school I would like to see myself pursuing with school and furthering my knowledge. I would like to be accepted into a University of my choice and into the field that I want. As of now I'm not exactly sure which University I would like to go to, but I know that University is definitely an option. I personally don't mind what University I go to as long as the school offers the program that I want and one that is known for being good. The program I would like to be in is Interior Decorating. I feel like I would do well in this field and enjoy myself as well. I've looked into some schools that offer this program and I think the program at BCIT seems really fun and interesting. I've also heard many good things about it. I also see myself maybe living on campus or near my school so that I can be more responsible and independent. I would also like to hve a job on the side. I know it would be hard to find a job that doesn't work well with school, but I would try finding a part-time job that would pay me well.
